Arizona Captive Society Meets on January 20

The Arizona Captive Society will be meeting on January 20 at the ASU Karsten golf course.  Karen Adams, Market Actuary for the Financial Affairs Division for the state of Arizona, will be speaking on Captives and Schedule P.  Julie Ekdom, ACAS, MAAA from Bartlett  Actuarial Group will be attending.

On December 15, 2009 Bill Bartlett made a two hour presentation to the SC Department of Insurance on forming a captive insurance company from the actuarial perspective. Bill discussed the funding study, the loss forecast, pro-forma financial projections and capitalization.

Bill Bartlett moderated a panel at the Vermont Captive Insurance Association conference on August 13, 2009. The topic was Why Collaboration with Actuaries is Crucial for  Captives. The panelists were Nick Parillo and Libby Christman from Ahold and Steven diCenso from Milliman. The coordinators for the panel were Mike Meehan (Milliman) and Andrea Bartlett (Bartlett Actuarial Group).

Bartlett Actuarial Group exhibited (for the 8th year) at the Vermont Captive Insurance Association convention in Burlington, VT from August 11-13.  The theme of the convention this year was ‘Building a Better Captive.

Julie Ekdom Attends MCIA Conference

Julie Ekdom, ACAS, MAAA, ARM, ASLI attended the Montana Captive Insurance Association conference in White Fish, Montana from July 21 – 23. One of the highlights of the convention was a presenttion by the newly elected insurance commissioner, Monica Lindeen, discussing how under her leadership she plans to shape the regulatory environment for captive insurance companies.
